I was listening to Backspin on my sirius radio last night in my ride. They played a track that made me realize that the good hip hop has been about 15 years ago. I rewinded this track about 5 times on my way home. Here it is with video and the lyrics. LONG LIVE ONYX!!! - Damn I actually think I posted this joint already. Who cares.

Onyx - Throw ya Gunz

Lyrics.
Intro:

Take em out, take em out, bring em out dead
Shine em up, shine em up, shine the bald head
One gun, two gun, three gun, four
You’re, mine, it’s all about crime
Onyx! (echoes)

Verse one: fredro starr

It’s time to get live, live, live like a wire
I set a whole choir on fire (uhh!)
Well done, on the grill, shot skills kills
And no frills - they try to diss me? they gettin crispy
Ha, ha hah hah, and we do it like this
In fact, ? ? ? ? and jack jack’s
Cause they can burn in hell shit for all that I care
Beware the bald head the dread said is they fear
Stick-up’s assassin, traction new reaction
These fuckin niggaz shoulda made the all madden
Onyx is wreckin shit, slip slide step quick
? ? ? ? infinite that gets crashed like a rented
The shit they write is black and white; well mines got mad color
Ain’t that right, my blood brother?
Word up, raise it up!
We do it with the crew that don’t give a fuck

So throw ya gunz in the air, throw ya gunz in the air
Buck buck like you don’t care

Verse two: suave

Uh-oh!! heads up, cause we’re droppin some shit
On your now shot-skills, onyx tec-9 for a while
Keep your eyes open in the fight, i’ma swell em
The hardcore style, rowdy n wild, hits i’ma sell em (sell em)
To all competition slide back then listen
I’m kickin all that, shit to the doormat
Claimin this domain, cause mad pains
Blood stains, long range - got gats!
Crazy clips, I sink ships, cuttin faces like a pirate
I’ve never caught a flood, for the mad shit that I did
Heard, you got the word so observe
I shatter and splatter bodies that blows and bust nerds, open!
I always leave my barrel smokin

Throw ya gunz in the air
And buck buck like you just don’t care
Just throw ya gunz in the air
And buck buck like you just don’t care
Just throw ya gunz in the air
And buck buck like you just don’t care
Just throw ya gunz in the air
And buck buck like you just don’t care

Verse three: sticky fingaz

Ahhh, I hate your fuckin guts, and I hope that you die
Sticky fingaz, the name, and my life is a lie
Cause I’m havin a bad day, so stay out of my way
And what the pistol packin people say you better obey
Just in the nick of time, I commit the perfect crime
Rip my heart, from my chest, put it right into a rhyme 9yeah!)
I don’t feel pain cause it’s all in the mind
And what’s - mines is mines and, yours is mine
Don’t fuckin blink or i’ma rob yo’ ass blind
Onyx, is rippin shit, I got the tech nine
So what the plumber got boy buck buck buck buck
It’s like a catastrophe, fuckin with me g

So, so, so, so?

So throw ya gunz in the air
And buck buck like ya just don’t care
Just throw ya gunz in the air
And buck buck like you just don’t care
Just throw ya gunz in the air
And buck buck like you just don’t care
Just throw ya gunz in the air
And buck buck like you just don’t care

Outro:

We the motherfuckin onyx!
And we don’t give a flying motherfuckin fuck

Artist check.

Grand Puba.
Maxwell Dixon, better known as Grand Puba, is best-known for fronting Brand Nubian for the group's first album -- and the excellent full-blown reunion album, 1998's Foundation -- but he actually made his commercial debut with the Masters of Ceremony, a group who released a 1988 album (Dynamite) on 4th & Broadway. Puba went solo with 1992's Reel to Reel, which featured the excellent singles "360 Degrees (What Goes Around)" and "Check It Out" (with Mary J. Blige). Never the most prolific rap artist, it took three years for a sophomore release (1995's 2000), and his third album (the lackluster Understand This) didn't come until 2001. Throughout his career, his lyrical schemes have been drizzled with the influence of his Nation of Islam beliefs. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide

Some old news:

"The stage has been set for the fourth edition of “VH1 Hip Hop Honors,” an annual tribute to the pioneers of rap who have made significant contributions to the genre.

Premiering Oct. 8 at 10 p.m., the ceremony from New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom will be hosted by comedian Tracy Morgan and give props to artists Snoop Dogg, Whodini, Missy Elliot, Wild Style's 25th Anniversary and Teddy Riley and Andre Harrell for New Jack Swing."

That's right New Jack Swing finally getting some love. Not that many spots here in SD to play it. But shit...I did. Me, Felt1 and Rells got to play at Mixtape Sessions repping Armory Massive. Felt played the hip hop classics, I dropped the New Jack, Rells rocked the new to old hip hop joints. Nobody came to support..but thats a different story. Still we didnt give a fuck and just rocked it for our own ears. SD WHERE YOU AT??? WE AS GOOD AS THE CATS YALL SPEND MAD MONEY ON TO HEAR...BUT SHIT WE FROM YOUR HOMETOWN!!! Anyways. Time for a New Jack Swing video check.

EA's "Skate" demo is finally out on XBox Live Marketplace. Got six more hours of work till I can try it out. Get it now. This is what I got from Joystiq.com.

After being held up for six days, EA's Skate demo has finally arrived on Xbox live, begging to be downloaded and obsessed over. We're just a tad bit obsessed with it ourselves, going as far as calling it "a spiritual experience." Will you reach gaming nirvana as well? Not unless you can achieve that state within thirty minutes of this timed demo.

Your thirty minutes in heaven takes place in the community center skate park in the suburbs and it's fully equipped to experience a good chunk of what's possible in Skate. After a brief tutorial of the flick-it controls, you'll be let loose on the park, free to do whatever you please.

What really makes this demo special is the ability to save and upload a movie using the saved films feature so please, feel free to share your creations with the rest of the class. As for PlayStation 3 owners, your demo will be arriving sometime soon as folks at EA have said that it's been completed, sent out and is now in Sony's hands.

Trailer.

I got this from ChompChomp.us

Los Angeles pop culture artist and notorious satirist Plastic God has been working with Glendale based vinyl art toy company Super Rad Toys to create his LEGO-like series of Axis of Evil toys, which will be available this September/October.

Plastic God’s Axis of Evil is a limited edition boxed set of 5” rotocast collectibles, featuring everyone’s favorite cast of current political icons: Saddam Hussein, Tony Blair, Kim Jong-il, George “W” Bush and Osama bin Laden. The dolls have 7 points of articulation and come packed together in a flip open window door box.

Plastic God is also working with Cardboard Spaceship in Santa Cruz to create a limited edition Jail House version of his Axis of Evil toy series.

Eibach - Honda ONLY Meet 2007

Back on May 2007, Eibach in conjuction with VtecVooDoo (Ryan H), Rodrez (Matt R), and Stunna Ben (Ben H)... held their yearly "Honda ONLY" event at th Eibach Corona California facility... this show gathered enthusiasts from all sides of the US and many foreign countries...

as i was one to spectate the year prior, i was personally asked by the staff to provide the entertainment, by DJing and HOSTing the whole event........ i gladly accepted...

the day of the event came, and some hundreds of cars and thousands of spectators came together in one lot to support a movement of tuning in the honda community...

while i was DJing/HOSTing with my good friend "OLD SKOOL" (Shaun J)... i decided to sell some "State of Mind Radio" shirts at the function, which were printed and picked up just days before (courtesy of Cros 1 and Armory Distribution). Many of the shirts were already accounted for after posting the design and color-ways on an online forum (NWP4LIFE.COM)... i brought out close to 200 shirts that day... the event started at about 11:00 AM, and most of them were gone by 3:00 PM... it was a good day, but a tiring one at that...

heres some of the photos from my files of the event...

some throw back material - Part I...

heres some of the things ive been involved in this past few months... things are coming along slowly but surely, finally got my tables, my camera, and a set routine... so i believe the future might have a bit more in store for me...

around the beginning of March 2007, Ronald Vallar (aka Bluballz) decided to have a birthday celebration for himself at a popular dive here in San Diego, known as Landlord Jims... knowing the reputation of art showcasing at this venue, and the assortment of creative minds that dwell there... Bluballz came to the conclusion of collecting 11 blank skateboard decks, and gathering 11 artists to design the boards to express their thoughts.

Bluballz then contacted all the artists he had in mind, including myself... he dropped of the board to my house with the words of "fuck that shit up"... hahaha... so i did...

the event ended up falling on a sacred day to the sceptics, which was April 13th 2007..... FRIDAY THE 13TH...

heres the sample of my piece i destroyed... its now in the possesion of Bluballz, a gift from me to him... i named it EMO-FOCUS...

more photos of the event, and the build - deconstruct to follow...

"film this"

just last week, August 2nd 2007... Willy Santos premiered his first shop video, compiled with a list of upcoming and well known powerhouse riders...

the premier was open for view of the public that Thursday, at none other than his home town of Mira Mesa San Diego... the infamous Edwards Cinema!!!

as the doors opened around 3:00 - 3:30 ish PM... the line of supporters was overwelmingly energetic about this historical event... pushing his way on his skate, and the trials of his many business ventures (True, Kafe, Tiki, Workshop, Illiss)... the dedication to his dreams made this video possible, as well as the hard working and ever so friendly team riders and shop employees...

i wasnt able to make the premier that day, but from what i heard, and saw on the "test press DVD" it was a "go out and pick me up" vid...

as i got off of my daily 8-5 grind... yours truly made the trek home to pick up my laptop and records, i was scheduled to DJ at the afterparty (Bar Basic, Downtown San Diego)later that night...

9:00 PM rolled around and on the decks i stood... with drinks, pizza, sushi and the warmth of friends i was ready to play... here are some photos of the event, but you can see more at: www.willysantos.com
